Dylan Kay - Skype Guitar Lessons

Biography

I’m a guitarist, performer and guitar teacher, currently based in London but moving to Auckland, New Zealand in February 2012.

Educated at Berklee College of Music, the Guitar Institute and Oxford University, I’ve been lucky enough to have studied with some of the world’s finest jazz educators, including Mick Goodrick, Hal Crook, David Tronzo, Tim Miller and Richie Hart.

My teaching career started in 1995, and since then I've taught hundreds of students, including the guitarists in the Maccabees and Billie Piper's songwriter. I have taught at a number of high profile schools including Dunhurst (Bedales) and Sussex House (Sloane Sq). I currently teach guitar at The Institute of Contemporary Music Performance in London, and occasionally write for Guitarist magazine.

I’ve performed extensively in Boston, USA and throughout the UK (including playing at the O2 Arena, London's Jazz Cafe, and many jazz festivals), leading my own contemporary jazz bands and performing with others, including working as musical director for US jazz singer Ellen O’Brien.

My band 1224 Project plays electrifying, groove-fuelled contemporary jazz and has just released a new CD "What Happened to The Foot".
